Position Summary

Within a consultant business setting, our subsidiary company is looking for an Electrical Field Engineer who will be responsible for supporting a client within a designated Industry. Reporting to the business leader and client Project Managers, this position is mainly accountable for supporting field investigations, product and drawing reviews and on-site electrical support for the client. Also in the Woodstock location main project will be chiller & cooling tower replacement, eATF project and ATF Tank project.

Some Key Responsibilities

• Facilitates electrical building system startups & commissioning activities

• Provides assistance in review of product and equipment submittals, shop drawings, engineering design drawings/specifications and contractor generated RFIs as a subject matter expert in these areas

• Aids building construction contractors and equipment vendors to coordinate equipment factory testing, delivery, installation, commissioning & handover to end users

• Liaison daily with a number of contractors, vendors, plant facility groups and manufacturing shops

• Coordinates weekend & plant shutdowns

• Conducts regular work progress inspections

• Supports construction administration activities such as schedule coordination, quality confirmations, weekly meetings and planned utility outages

• Conducts inspections and observations of electrical building systems for project specifications, quality standards and applicable code compliance.

• Oversees work of electrical contractors for adherence to project delivery methods, schedule milestone targets & coordination with other groups

• Prepares field engineering work progress reports & status, providing schedule details to Project Managers

• Provides input & feedback to improve project technical specifications and standards

• Performs other duties as assigned to support the client initiatives

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor’s Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent

• 5-10 years’ experience in similar roles with 2+ years in construction management

• 5 years’ experience in design criteria development for electrical systems in the electrical design field

• Experience with engines, transmissions or vehicle facilities or industrial manufacturer industry

• Extensive knowledge of safety procedures, safe work practices and OSHA requirements for electrical installations including but not limited to Lock-Out, Electrical Safe Work Practices, Control of Hazardous Energy & arc flash safety

• Extensive knowledge of building codes and industry standards including but not limited to: IBC, NEC, NESC, NFPA, ASME, AMCA, ARI, AWS, ASHRAE & FM

• Ability to effectively communicate technical matters verbally and in writing

• Exceptional project management skillset with a high-capacity of multi-tasking, time management and prioritizing project commitments and meeting deadlines, timelines and key milestone targets

• Proficient to advance level with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Microsoft Project

• Experience with startups or commissioning of substations and or mechanical equipment is an asset
