Position Summary

Within a consultant business setting, our subsidiary is looking for a Health & Safety Specialist who will be responsible for supporting a client within a designated Industry. Reporting to the business leader this position is accountable for a number of responsibilities ranging from overseeing a construction project from a health & safety perspective, assisting in physical hazardous demands analysis, and auditing workplace construction activities to identify and rectify hazard concerns for the client.

Some Key Responsibilities

A. Project Specific Safety Plans for Client site Projects:

• Provides advice to client/personnel on health, safety and environmental issues while auditing project specific safety plans and reviewing health and safety program documents for the specific project;

• Assists with preparing or reviewing pre-job hazard assessments;

• Prepares H&S performance reports, daily activity reports and timesheets;

• Prepares site tour observation reports, identifying conditions requiring corrective action and communication

• Conducts regular walkabouts with the focus on high-risk operations and conditions

• Managing site sub-contractor or trades from an OSHA perspective ensuring preventative measures are communicated;

• Reviews or assists with verifying trade safety records/certifications, safety board, site signage requirements and presence of H&S documentation & permits onsite for compliance;

• Affiliated H&S committee meetings; may manage or provide subject matter expertise regarding these meetings; may also have committee responsibilities as required;

• Affiliated with orientations and or training which could include development, delivering or reviewing;

• Assists with on-site incidents, accidents, investigations and H&S requirements;

• Liaison with regulatory agency officials in the course of onsite visits for any H&S occurrences;

B. Identifies opportunities to expand or obtain new client opportunities leveraging on CrossSafety Holdings Inc Services

• Performs other duties as assigned to support the operations team

Qualifications/Requirements

• Certificate or Diploma in Occupational health & safety or a trade certification;

• Minimum 2 to 5 years experience onsite Health & Safety experience within automotive construction;

• Strong working knowledge of the NC OSHA Industrial Regulations including Construction projects;

• Project safety audit and inspection experience;

• Proficient with computer applications, tablets and the Microsoft suite of products;

• Excellent at managing expectations, shows initiative and can multitask;

• High-level of interpersonal skills, working in a team environment with effective verbal and written communication;

• Has completed Fall Protection, WHMIS, Silica Mitigation, and Hazard Communication basic training.
